Dereje Zebene joined Zemen Bank in April 2018. In joining Zemen Bank, Ato Dereje brings with him vast banking experience of more than 20 years. Prior to joining Zemen Bank, he served in various role such as Chief Officer of Corporate Strategy and Transformation, Vice President of Banking Operations, Vice President of International Banking and other managerial positions at Awash Bank. Additionally, he has also worked at Commerzbank A.G Representative Office for Ethiopia and East Africa, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Bank of Ethiopia and Wegagen Bank in different capacities. Ato Dereje is multidisciplinary in his educational achievements, obtained his Master of Business Administration from Lincoln University, California-USA, a BA in Management, and a Bachelor of Law from AAU.
Addis Woldecherkos Gebrehiwot currently serves as Chief Credit Officer at Zemen Bank since October 2022. He joined Zemen Bank in March 2020as the Vice President of Operations, a position he held until September 2022. Prior to his time at Zemen, Addis held significant leadership roles at Wegagen Bank, including Director of E-Banking Services (2019–2020) and Director of Branch Operations (2014–2019). He also served as Department Manager in various departments, such as Domestic Banking and Credit, and as Branch Manager from 2001 to 2009.
Addis holds a BA in Management and Public Administration and has completed various certifications, including Credit Analysis, Enterprise Risk Management, and International Balanced Scorecard. He has also received additional training in advanced Card Suit Overview and VISA refresher courses in Latvia.
Ato Asrat, a Chief Retail Banking Officer at Zemen Bank S.C. has over two decades of banking experience. He had key roles at the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, United Bank, and Zemen Bank. He assumed various progressively responsible positions, including Branch Manager, Head of the Credit Analysis and Appraisal Division, and Director of Credit Relationship Management. Asrat Tadesse is a graduate of Addis Ababa University and St. Mary's University. In addition, Mr. Asrat has participated in various technical, managerial, and leadership trainings and workshops, acquiring essential skills in managerial and strategic areas of banking.
Elias, with over 10 years of experience in human resources and operations management, joined Zemen Bank in December 2008. He began his management career as manager of the Support Services Division and later assumed the position of Director of Human Resources function. Elias holds a Masters of Business Administration from the International Leadership Institute and B.A. in Management from Addis Ababa University.
Ermias Zewde has joined Zemen Bank S.C. on August 01, 2025 as Chief Technology Officer; bringing with him over 21 years of successful experience in leadership and professional jobs in various commercial banks. Prior to joining Zemen bank, he has worked as Vice President of Information Systems (CIO) at Tsedey Bank for 2 years. Ermias has worked for Commercial Bank of Ethiopia for 17 years starting from Junior to Director position in different IT departments. He has also worked in Amhara Bank and Awash Bank as Director of Application Management and System Development; and IT Strategy and Innovation Management respectively. He has a proven practical experience in System Development, Application Management, MIS, data & analytics, Planning, Project Management, Digital Banking, Cyber Security, enterprise architecture, IT Governance, IT Strategy and IT business alignment. Ermias earned BSc. Degree in Information Systems from Addis Ababa University and is currently working on his thesis on MSc. in IT Management.
Ato Meseret Wondim is currently serving as the Chief Finance Officer at Zemen Bank. With over thirteen years of experience in banking and audit, he brings a wealth of knowledge to his role. Prior to joining Zemen Bank, Ato Meseret held positions such as Area Bank Manager, Inspection and Audit Division Manager, Senior Inspector and Senior Internal Auditor.
In 2009, Ato Meseret joined Zemen Bank and established Zemen Bank’s Internal Audit Department and setup internal control environment.
He later served as Vice President of Corporate Resources Management where he led the formulation of the Bank’s 2016-2020 five-year strategy and was actively involved in the Head Quarter Building Project Management. Ato Meseret also led the internal team in developing a new five-year strategic plan and 10-year Road Map.
Ato Meseret holds Master’s Degree in Executive Management (EMBA) from Addis Ababa University. He had also studied ACCA and is an active ACCA member (FCCA). He also obtained a BA Degree in Accounting from Addis Ababa University.
Ato Michael has been with the bank since 2012. He started his career as a sales associate at a private website development company and briefly worked at Ethiopian Airlines. Michael has held various roles within Zemen Bank, including Senior Officer, Division Manager for Promotion and Public Relations, and Fund Manager. Ato Michael has served Zemen Bank as Director for Corporate and Institutional Banking. Michael graduated from Mekelle University with a BA in Business Management.
Ato Phylipos has experience in various roles at Dashen Bank, including IT System Administrator I, Principal System Administrator, Database Supervisor, and Head of the Software Support Section. At Zemen Bank, he has held positions such as Head of Core Banking and Database Administration Division and acting Director of the Core Banking and Software Development. Ato Phylipos holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Library and Information Science from Addis Ababa University.
Since June 1, 2024 he has been serving as Acting Chief Information Officer at Zemen Bank.
Takele Dibekulu joined Zemen Bank S.C. on April 1, 2023 as the Deputy Chief Human Capital Officer. Prior to joining Zemen, he worked as the HR Director at Wilmar International for two years.
Takele spent most of his career at Ethiopian Airlines Group, serving in various roles such as HR Generalist, Team Leader, Manager and A/Director Group HC Development & Industrial Relations, which was his last position he held before leaving the Airlines in 2021.
Takele earned an MA in Human Resource Management and a BA in Management from Addis Ababa University in 2017 and 2011 respectively graduating with Great Distinctions both degrees. He has participated in and facilitated various leadership trainings and workshops both abroad and locally.
Ato Tewahido brought with him about 10 years of experience in research, marketing, foreign procurement and banking prior to joining Zemen Bank in 2008. He has held positions as Manager of the Trade Service Division and Director of Knowledge and Innovation Department before assuming his current role as Chief Officer- Strategy & Marketing. As Director of Knowledge and Innovation, he led research, innovation, change management, budgeting and performance management functions. Additionally, Ato Tewahido has been actively involved in and has handled significant responsibilities in the development of the new strategy (2022/23- 2026/27) as a project manager.
He is a certified BSP (Balanced Scorecard Professional) and KPI-P (Key Performance Indicator Professional) from the Balanced Scorecard Institute. Ato Tewahido received his MBA from St. Mary’s University and an MSc in Finance and Investment from Mekelle University. He also holds a B.A. degree in Economics and a Diploma in Marketing from Addis Ababa University.
