Zemen Bank Conducts Financial Literacy Sessions for High School Students

Zemen Bank, as part of its corporate social responsibility, conducted a financial literacy training program aimed at enhancing students’ financial knowledge at Balcha Aba Nefso and Hidase Lideta Secondary Schools on 31 January 2026.

The training focused on finance basics, digital banking services, saving as well as goal setting and following a disciplined path toward success. The trainings were delivered by the bank’s management members with extensive professional experience. In addition, Ato Desalegn Bekele, a representative from the Addis Ababa Education Bureau, participated in the post-presentation discussion and Q&A session.

During the program, students were informed that gaining financial awareness at a young age helps them develop responsible money management habits that will benefit them throughout their lives.

Furthermore, the trainers explained that Zemen Bank believes empowering students with financial knowledge is a foundation for the country’s future investment and for building a financially inclusive society.

Following the training, students raised questions related to interest rates, and broader issues concerning the history of Ethiopia’s financial industry, all of which were addressed during the discussion.

More than 200 Grade 12 students from both schools participated in the training. As the students prepare to join higher education institutions in the coming year, the program helped them make informed decisions regarding financial management.
